How to Save Money by Using Coupons on Groceries
If you are throwing away coupons, you are throwing away money! Learn how to get the most out of your coupons when grocery shopping!
Step 1..Printable coupons are great for people who don't get the newspaper. Each store has its own policy on the use of internet printable coupons; some will limit the number you can use & some stores will not accept them at all (I have yet to find a store that won't take them, but have heard of this happening). Your experiences will vary. Just a little FYI, you do not have to print them in color, black & white scan the same as color, so save your ink. If you are looking for a specific coupon, check the manufacturers website & sites like couponmom.com and spendlessandsavemore.net
Step 2...Many grocery stores are getting in on the newest wave of couponing, the e-coupon. Instead of printing out the coupon, you attach the coupon to your grocery store's discount card. The best part about the E-coupon is that you can pair it with any other paper coupon to get maximum savings. Check out sites like cellfire.com & shortcuts.com.
Step 3...Digital couponing is the newest wave of couponing. While Cellfire offers e-coupons that attach to your grocery card, it also offers to download the coupons to your cell phone. To take advantage of this, you first must make sure that your phone is compatible with Cellfire's technology.
Step 4...Early on I realized that the more feedback you give companies, the more coupons you will receive in the mail. Once you log on to a companies website, you should be able to locate the customer service or Contact me button. Usually, this takes you to an online form where you fill out your comment along with your mailing address & other information. Companies really do appreciate both positive & negative feedback & most of the time will give you something in return for the time to take to make the comments. Many will also put you on their mailing lists once they have this information. This is a great way to get coupons you might not already get in Sunday inserts and on line.
Step 5...When companies are trying to promote certain products a store, they will use blinkies, tear pads & hang tags to offer you a deal for purchasing thier products. Blinkies are coupons distributed in stores by SmartSource Coupon Machines (the machine blinks a little red light, hence the title). Tear Pads are pads of coupons that are often attached to the shelf where product is located or on product displays in the middle of aisles. Hang Tags are tags that hang on the product & may either be used on that product or for another product in the same company family of products. Peelies are found attached to the product itself (eventhough it might not be for that specific product) that can be peeled off.
Step 6...Catalinas are check-out coupons that print out when you purchase qualifying products. While these coupons are store-specific, they are actually manufacturer coupons & cannot be combined with any other manufacturer coupon.
Step 7...Many magazines have at least a few coupons scattered about in advertisements, but the one that has the most by far is All You. You simply can't beat the amount of coupons you get for the price. The subscription to this magazine will pay for itself 10x over!
